My name is Jameya Green and welcome to my blog: The Diary of a Teacher. With aspirations of one day becoming a leader in education, I am currently a certified CTE-Business (Career and Technical Education) teacher from Durham, North Carolina. In Durham, I attend Neal Middle School and went on to Hillside High School to study in the Business and Finance Academy, graduating in 2007. Upon completing high school, I attended Hampton University where I earned a bachelor’s degree in business management. After completing my undergraduate degree, I returned to Durham to begin working in retail management and other sectors before beginning my career as a teacher. In 2014, I began my career as a lateral entry teacher at Lucas Middle School, where I was teaching Business and Computer Applications to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. To become a certified business teacher, I attended North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University, where I earned a master’s degree in teaching business education.
The summer of 2016, I volunteered to teach abroad in Madrid, Spain for one month through International Volunteer Headquarters (IVHQ). This experience peaked my interest in learning more about different cultures and teaching practices around the World. The desire to embrace other cultures, led me to where I am now, in Nakhon Sri Thammart, Thailand.
Aside from teaching, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, mentoring former students, volunteering in my community with my sorority sisters and attending church on the weekend.
The purpose of this blog is to share my experience teaching abroad in Thailand and to share the life of a teacher. Once I return to the U.S., the blog will serve as a resource for teachers and students with posts on various topics.
Live, Love and Teach to Inspire. -Jameya G.
